1) Durley Grazebrook of Madras House, Brighton, Sussex, gent
2) George Wheeler of Chertsey, tailor
Messuage, shop yard, shed and premises in Guildford Street, Chertsey. Consideration £10 p.a.
The 1855 County Directory lists George Wheeler as a tailor, at Guildford Street, Chertsey. This lease makes it clear that he was already in occupation in 1857; it seems likely that the house was the property listed as 30 Guildford Street in the 1861 census. In the census returns George Wheeler is described as 'parish clerk etc.', a native of Chertsey, then aged 51. The house was also occupied by his wife Eliza, her mother and their seven children. Later directories show that George Wheeler was trading as a bookseller and newsagent in 1867 and that his daughter Ann continued the business as 'stamp distributor and newsagent' until around 1927.
