  • PETER DOUGLAS MARSHALL NEWELL Peter Newell, aged 85 passed away peacefully at Misericordia Hospital on Wednesday, November 24, 2004. He has now left us to join his daughter Roberta Tejedor, who predeceased him in March of 1995. Peter is survived by his wife Isa Bella; daughter Geraldine Thompson; son Dan Newell (Sue) grandchildren, Colin Thompson (Bobbi-Jo), Bradley Thompson, Michael and Elena Tejedor and Mike Newell; great-granddaughter Jessica Thompson; sons-in-law, George Thompson and Chico Tejedor; as well as numerous, nieces, nephews and friends. Peter was predeceased by his mother and father, sisters and brothers. Peter was an upholsterer with Winnipeg Transit for 28 years. Following which he owned his own upholstery business for 15 years and was a successful coin dealer. In his youth Peter was a member of a competitive rifle team. He was also a member of the Legion for 49 years and was an avid square dancer serving as past-president of the Greendell Swingers. The family would like to thank the staff at Victoria General Hospital and Misericordia Hospital. A celebration of Peters life will be held on Sunday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9 or charity of your choice.
