Rt. Hon. Lt.-Col. Lord Charles Fitzroy was born on 28 February 1791. He was the son of George Henry FitzRoy, 4th Duke of Grafton and Lady Charlotte Maria Waldegrave. He married Lady Anne Cavendish, daughter of George Augustus Henry Cavendish, 1st Earl of Burlington and Lady Elizabeth Compton, on 25 October 1825. He died on 17 June 1865 at age 74.
He fought in the Peninsular Wars. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 1st Foot Guards. He fought in the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815. He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.). He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.). He held the office of Vice-Chamberlain of the Household. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
