Reverend Frederick Manners Stopford was born on 1 November 1831. He was the son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Edward Stopford and Horatia Charlotte Lockwood. He married, firstly, Florence Augusta Saunders, daughter of Charles Alexander Saunders, on 8 June 1857. He married, secondly, Caroline Louisa Saunders, daughter of Very Rev. Augustus Page Saunders, on 7 November 1878. He died on 24 February 1912 at age 80.
He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.). He was the Rector between 1861 and 1912 at Tichmarsh, Northamptonshire, England. He held the office of Chaplain-in-Ordinary to HM Queen Victoria. He held the office of Honorary Chaplain to HM King Edward VII between 1901 and 1910. He held the office of Honorary Chaplain to HM King George V between 1910 and 1912.
