Note on Husband: Thomas Attfield

Thomas Attfield was among the first students at the Veterinary College of London, founded in 1791. In January 1792, four students began a three-year course intended to cover all aspects of the veterinary art.

Press notice, 14 Mar 1795: It having been represented to the Committee that many Persons practising Farriery have (in order to acquire reputation) pretended to have received a regular education in that Art at the Veterinary College, the Committee ... hereby inform the publick, that those whose names are under-mentioned are the only persons who have yet passed an examination before the Medical Committee of the College and been by them declared properly qualified to practice the Veterinary Art.
