Ernest George Enright was an officer of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) during the First World War. The RFA is a civilian-manned fleet whose primary task is to supply the Royal Navy with fuel, ammunition and other materials at sea.
On 11 Nov 1917 Lieutenant Enright, RNR, was appointed Commanding Officer of RFA Kurumba, a position which he held until 15 Apr 1918, and he also commanded a number of other RFA’s – RFA Isla (in 1915), RFA Pearleaf, RFA Petroleum (both in 1916) and RFA Dockleaf (in 1919 by which time he had obtained his discharge and reverted to the ships Master (as a Merchant Naval Officer).
