Ambrose Lisle March Phillipps de Lisle was born on 17 March 1809. He was the son of Charles March Phillipps and Harriet Ducarel. He married Laura Maria Clifford, daughter of Hon. Thomas Edward Clifford and Henriette Philippine Freiin von Lützow, on 25 July 1833. He died on 5 March 1878 at age 68.
He was given the name of Ambrose Lisle March Phillipps at birth. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Leicestershire. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Leicestershire. He founded the Cistercian Abbey of Mount St. Bernard in Charnwood Forest. In 1863 his name was legally changed to Ambrose Lisle March Phillipps de Lisle. He lived at Garendon Park, Garendon, Leicestershire, England. He lived at Grace Dieu Manor, Belton, Leicestershire, England.
