Joseph Antrim Webb, born 1745 (?), went as a lad to Combs, near Stowmarket, Suffolk, and worked in the tannery owned by Thomas Denny. He married in 1774, and bought the Denny house and garden in 1776, also leasing the tannery which he afterwards owned. He died in 1809. His brothers and sisters were: Samuel, James, Patience (mar. Peck), Frances, (mar. Rapnill), and Rachel (mar. Syret).
Oral tradition says Joseph Antrim Webb came from Coldenham and that
his father had a wooden leg.
