Excerpts from Will of Price James Evans of the Haymarket in the County of Middlesex, tobacconist.

To my dear brother Richard Evans of Shrewsbury in the County of Salop watchmaker my messuage or dwelling house and shop now in his occupation situate near the Market Place in Shrewsbury during his life and after his decease to my nephew John Evans

To my nephews Price James Evans the younger George Evans and Gotlieb Augustus Treyer Evans my messuage or dwelling house situate on Clairmont Hill in Shrewsbury formerly in the occupation of James Ralfold and now or late of Mr. Ellis in trust to be sold for the purchase of stock or securities until my nephew Robert Evans and my niece Rebecca Evans shall attain the age of twenty-one years and to be paid one moiety to Robert Evans at twenty-one and one moiety to Rebecca Evans at twenty-one or marriage, and during their minority the interest to be used to pay for their education...

To my nephews Price James Evans the younger George Evans and Gotlieb Augustus Treyer Evans my messuage or dwelling house and shop situate in the Haymarket in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields wherein I now reside and also my messuage or dwelling house situate in Coventry Court near the Haymarket with their respective appurts for all such terms estates and interests therein by virtue of the several leases under which the same are respectively holden together with all my stock in trade and implements of trade upon trust to manage conduct and carry on the trade or business of a tobacconist in which I am now concerned in the said house shop and premises in the Haymarket and Coventry Court from the time of my decease until my nephew Gotlieb Augustus Treyer Evans shall have attained his age of twenty-one years and during such interval it is my will that the said trade or business shall be principally managed and carried on by my nephews George Evans and Gotlieb Augustus Treyer Evans but with the assistance and subject to the inspection interference and direction of my nephew Price James Evans the younger so far as may be requisite and expedient for the better management and conduct thereof ... and after my nephew Gotlieb Augustus Treyer Evans shall have attained his age of twenty-one years it is my will and direction that the said trade or business shall be carried on and conducted by the said George Evans and Gotlieb Augustus Treyer Evans for their mutual and equal benefit. ...

And whereas I have lately purchased from Mr. Thomas Morhall the stock in trade of a wholesale milliner and the goodwill of such trade or business together with the two messuages or dwelling houses shops warehouses and premises wherein the same is carried on situate in Russell Court and White Hart Yard Drury Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the residue of the several terms granted by the several leases under which the same are respectively holden and I have established my said nephew Price James Evans the younger in partnership with myself in the management and conduct of such trade or business ... now I devise all these premises to my nephew the said Price James Evans the younger to continue to conduct and carry on the said last mentioned trade or business for his own sole use and benefit...

To my sister Mary Hall all the furniture plate linen china glass and household goods in my messuage or dwelling house in the Haymarket aforesaid as she may choose to have...

To Mr. Gotlieb Augustus Treyer of Bridgewater in the County of Somerset and Martha his wife the sum of ten pounds each

Rest residue and remainder of monies securities debts goods chattels personal estate and effects to be divided amongst my five nephews Price James Evans the younger John Evans George Evans Gotlieb Augustus Treyer Evans and Robert Evans and my four nieces Martha Donaldson the wife of Thomas Donaldson Rebecca Evans Ann Evans and Eleanor Evans in equal shares and proportions ... and one tenth part of my said residuary personal estate to be divided between my two great-nephews William Fribourg Evans and Price Fribourg Evans the sons of my late nephew Richard Evans deceased in equal shares and proportions on reaching the age of twenty-one years...
